Oh, That American Carnage!

Well, Muncie is supposed to be Middletown USA, so let's look at its criminal activity!

Today's Muncie Star Pres has State police: Man firing gunshots at Delaware County deputies struck by police car, which

According to state police — asked to investigate the incident by Sheriff Tony Skinner — deputies about 7:45 p.m. were in the 3000 block of South Mock Avenue searching for Conwell, "wanted for questioning in an unrelated case" and the target of arrest warrants in Madison County.

When Conwell emerged from a home in that area, he reportedly fled after being approached by deputies. During the ensuing chase, he allegedly produced a 9mm handgun and shot at his pursuers.

Deputy Carter Smithson returned fire with his department-issued firearm.

Tim Mitchell, a sergeant with the sheriff's department, then "utilized his department-issued police vehicle to stop the deadly and aggressive actions of Conwell and to protect the other deputy, who was on foot," according to the news release.

Apparently no one was hit by the gunfire, but bullets did hit Mitchell's police car.

The deputies provided medical aid to Conwell until paramedics arrived at the scene.

According to court records, Conwell faces 10 charges, all but one of them misdemeanors, in seven cases pending in Madison County courts — bribery, false identify statement, possession of paraphernalia, five counts of driving without ever receiving a license and two counts of possession of marijuana.

I get these updates, which I am not sure why since I do not recall asking for them, which are amusing.
