Valentine's Day and Recovery Wednesday

St. Valentine's Day

I woke up slowly, went through my email, and worked on the blog.

Instead of going to the sheriff in the morning, I wrote and searched for my birth certificate. I tidied up a little of the papers here.

I caught the #5 at 10:59 so to get the 11:30 #17 out to the jail. That worked, but I forgot to bring a book with me. I decided to walk over to Clark and 12th to catch the #12. That I caught around 12:30. That got me to the #5 back home.

I did finish off some posts of my pretrial detention notes before I left for the new job.

Getting there meant taking the #5 to connect with the #3, and walk over from Wheeling to the job.

Orientation via video, ninety minutes, and a free sandwich.

I walked back to catch the 5:15 #3 bus. I took my life in my hands and crossed Wheeling, almost saw a wreck in the southbound lane. Unfortunately, the #3 was running behind. This caused me to miss the #5 at 5:45. I waited around for the 6:15 This gave me time to call E. Finally, I got home around 6:30, after a stop off at McClure's for supplies.

But I was tired. Not sure why I was tired, but did no writing other than answering a few emails.

PC Magazine reprinted a Kurt Vonnegut story: Love in the Time of AI: A Kurt Vonnegut Short Story.

As for me, “Psychotic Ape” got another rejection:

Thanks for your submission – I’m going to decline this one, but I hope to see more of your work soon.

We shortlisted The Psychotic Ape but ultimately decided to go with other stories.

Best,

Mark.

Recovery Wednesday

I woke before the alarm, which was set at 5 pm. I was down at 7. All I did was get a few emails read and feel still tired.

I read Church Schisms in Ukraine and Russia: Patriarch Kirill as Comparative Historian (which I highly recommend for those interested in religion or Russia or the Ukraine War. I hear no one mention the religious aspect of that war.)

A Conspiracy Theorist’s Guide to Semicolons

Indiana radio stations.

Up at 9. Got ice from the office. I started on this. I have decided to work on “Road Tripping.”

Read An Interview with Callan Wink from Epiphany Magazine; he is a writer form Montana.

Back to work at 4 pm, and I need to be out of here at 2:45 to catch my buses. I will probably walk back tonight. Otherwise, I would need to pay for a taxi. Another training session tomorrow. Nothing else scheduled.

Now, to work.

I wanted to post some Valentine's Day songs, but my energy ran out. Well, that was another thing left undone last night. The following song has been on my mind lately, thank you CC, and I guess it is a love song of a sort:
