Lucky Not to Hurt Myself

Off I went to wash dishes yesterday morning. All went well until I went to get my paycheck. The bookkeeper had paid me as a server. It was about $200 short. The owner gave $100 until I could get my proper pay.

Thing was he gave me two $50 bills. I had no change for the bus. I did not think about this quickly enough. It took time for me to realize the only place close by capable of breaking a $50 was Lahody Meats. I picked up some hard salami, some Gouda cheese, and rolls. I missed the #3 bus downtown. Yeah, I am a bloody genius, a danger to the world at large, who cannot remember to keep bus fare on him.

It was a nice walk downtown, along the river:

You look closely, there is a turtle here:

I think I saw a snapping turtle in the river. There were some Canadian geese on the other side of the river. I did see a woman fishing. She was having no luck.

Not sure if the statue is clear in the first one. It is small. The location is the southeast corner of Wysor and High. The next is a few yards to the south, just outside if City Hall. Both left me wondering why Muncie got this tasteful public art and Anderson got its ghastly Crystal Arch.

Back to my room by five to eat dinner, shower, read a bit online and of my emails. This was last night's sunset from my front porch:

Overslept this morning, which was not a problem except I put off writing this post. I walked over on Sundays. I heard a train a-coming, albeit not around a bend:

Work went well. One of my co-workers gave me a ride back. The last 5 hours I have done a little reading, a little dozing, a little TV watching when not listening to The Greaser's Lunchbox on KDHX and WMBR's Backwoods. My sister and I exchanged a few emails. Such is my life. Animal Kingdom will be on soon and I am signing off now.
