Is the Governor Saying Indiana is Ready for the Future?

I wrote in Indiana Needs Better Education about a Lilly exec making the case that Indiana lacks the educated class needed for a modern education.

Now there is Gov. Holcomb responds to criticism from Lilly CEO. Call me biased but the Governor does not issue a full-throated defense of Indiana's future:

“Obviously our economy is humming when you look at over the momentum that we’ve experience and we are reinvesting, into workforce development programs, into education, into the health and well being of our citizens. Is there more to do? of course. Will our job ever be done? No, we want to make sure that we have set goals that put us at the number one state in the Midwest and the top five state in the country across all the measures that Dave talked and that I talked about as well. So we’re aligned and we have to do better across the board,” said Holcomb.

This blog post by the Indiana Democrats may explain why Holcomb sounds like he is talking out of both sides of his  mouth: Eric Holcomb Accidentally Cites American Rescue Plan and Jobs Act to Combat Eli Lilly Chairman’s Statement.

In contrast, the Indiana Republican Party said “NO” to this brighter future. Politicians like U.S. Senator Todd Young voted “NO” on these investments, and in fact, Indiana GOP Chairman Kyle Hupfer called these investments “socialism” – claiming this opposition was a “great campaign to run on”. It’s become quite clear that while Democrats are creating a better future for Hoosiers, the Indiana GOP has no plan for the state – just partisanship.
