Making a Living with Short Stories

Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald and John Cheever could make s living writing short stories. I did not think this was actually possible (then, too, I do not think I am much of a short story writer). Then I read Short Stories As The Basis To An Award-Winning Author Career With Alan Baxter (which is actually the transcript of a podcast courtesy of The Creative Penn.) He makes a case that one can still make a living writing short stories - albeit maybe not in the manner of Hemingway or Fitzgerald or Cheever. This will take some time for me to digest - until I can get a real computer and get my stories in a useable form.
