The New Noble Laureate for Literature

I had not thought to comment on the new Noble Prize for Literature until I came across this paragraph in the Brisbane Times' Tanzanian Abdulrazak Gurnah awarded Nobel Prize in Literature:

He said Gurnah’s characters “find themselves in the gulf between cultures ... between the life left behind and the life to come, confronting racism and prejudice, but also compelling themselves to silence the truth or reinventing a biography to avoid conflict with reality”.

Can you not extrapolate from this to our own modern Indiana? Maybe you do not think we are on the margins. Maybe you do think we have here racism and prejudice. Maybe you do think there are different cultures affecting us. I say you are wrong. What I am trying to do is confront all these things. You should be doing so, too.
