Just some things & people I think need to be better known.
Indiana farmers dig in to protect White River (Indy Star): We're not adverse to a better environment or being progressive, just a little slow.
Mayor’s Arts Awards recipients announced at Muncie Civic Theatre ceremony (Muncie Star Press): Not sure what other Indiana cities have a similar program.
Those honored were Christiana Mann, Maker Award; Mike Martin, Arts Leader Award; Muncie Children’s Museum, Corporate Arts Award; Zach Poor, Next Generation Artist Award; John “Doc” Peterson, Lifetime Achievement Award; Lily Rawson, Arts Educator Award; Ashley Runkle, Artist in the Community Award; and Anwar Rhuma Frazier, People's Choice Award.
Living Wage Calculation for Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson, IN
First Fruits Family Farm - these people sell at the Muncie Farmer's Market, and I have bought their meats. They are a good buy.
I saw Austin Brammer's work at the Farmer's Market, and I am thinking about buying one or two. Check out POURS BY AUSTIN. He has an online gallery.
I also want to give a very big shout out to Blythe Potter, who is running as a Democrat for the office of Indiana. I meet her in Anderson 13 days ago, should have posted this before, and my only excuse is the hurly-burly tempo of life these past 2 weeks. She struck me as about taking away the clown who is our current Secretary of State, and putting it to work for the people of this state. Her biography only bolsters my opinion that this woman is a force to be contended with.
What she says on her website came across as really her:
I’m running to bring integrity, transparency, and turnout back to this office.
That means:
- Working with clerks, schools, and community leaders to increase registration and access
- Reforming the InBiz portal to actually support small businesses and entrepreneurs
- Making sure every county, red, blue, or purple, gets the tools they need to engage voters
- Fighting voter suppression efforts like the SAVE Act head-on
