Thesis: The Midwest Produces More Of Great American Literature

I start with the American winners of the Nobel Prize for Literature: Sinclair Lewis (Minnesota), Thomas Stearns Eliot (Missouri), Ernst Hemingway (Illinois), Saul Bellow (Illinois), Toni Morrison (Ohio), and Bob Dylan (Minnesota).

List of winners of the National Book Award is more difficult to discern the writer's origin, but like this list for the Pulitzer Prizes,  A State-By-State Survey of Literary Masterpieces (Literary Hub) I think it suffices for my thesis that the Midwest is a potent source for American literature.

Now for what is going on now: Midwest: A Regional Spotlight on Independent Publishing (Community of Literary Magazines and Presses)
