Okay, maybe not so special, but bear with me. I almost never get out to see movies nowadays. The ones I want to see either do not come to Muncie, or leave before I can the means to get to the theater. But they have meant much to me in my life. They were things which my mother and my mother took me when I was young. I had a horrible experience seeing Bambi as a small child; my mother bore well my reaction to the death of Bambi's mother. The last movie I recall going to see with my mother was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. My father took me to see Assault on a Queen; the last movie I saw with him at a theater was Pretty Woman. There was always something special to them about the movies, and I think I inherited this feeling from them.
British sci-fi movies - Village of the Damned scared me as a kid; I had already seen enough of George Sanders to think of him as a hero (yes, I was very young) and he is what makes this story scary to me.
Howard Hawks was from Indiana (a point made in the following), and made a bunch of my favorite movies:
About “The Name of the Rose” - well, the following does help understand the movie, too.
Living in Indiana gave me a liking for trailers - even 40 + years ago, we did not get the same movies as they got on the Coasts. YouTube has these collections of coming attractions, which amounts to free advertising for other outlets. Some of these look like interesting movies.
Sometimes the behind the scene videos are more than clickbait:
And insights into and from film can come from non-film sources:
