I was packing and could not make it to BSU for its free speech demonstration: Students, community members protest university's free speech stance (BSU Daily Student):
The protest was planned by several advocacy groups over the university’s recent firing of Suzanne Swierc, former director of health promotion and advocacy, Swierc was fired Sept. 17 over comments she made on her private Facebook account about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
During the protest, one of many chants addressed concerns about the university censoring freedom of speech, with many stating, “When free speech is under attack, what do we do? Stand up and fight back.”
Various attendees also expressed their dissatisfaction with Ball State’s student media outlets in the wake of a tumultuous political climate.
