In his address Tuesday night, Trump called for Congress to "get rid of" the CHIPS Act. He said "America First" policies have resulted in companies making investments in the U.S. without the government providing money to those companies.
"Your CHIPS Act is a horrible, horrible thing," Trump said.
Trump said the threat of tariffs will push companies to build in the U.S., rather than the kinds of grants and investments the CHIPS Act has provided since 2022.
CHIPS was a big Biden idea.
