A Sculpture Park For Anderson!

An idea I have had for some time, maybe I wrote about it in the early days of this blog, is a sculpture park for Anderson.

There used to be space along Grand Avenue where there is a parking lot for accessing Shadyside Park. Then there is the Riverwalk area between Truman and Eisenhower Bridges. I think there would be space available in other city parks. I recall some sculptures around Alexandria Pike and Cross Street. What never happened – and would be needed to be done – is a plan on marketing the sculptures. Which, in turn, requires, thinking of this artwork as the means of getting people to visit Anderson.

What got me thinking of this again was Bloomington woman turns trash into treasure through her art from The Indiana Daily Student.

On Nov. 15, 2022, HGTV’s “Good Bones Better Yard” featured on of Wease’s pieces. Wease transformed a 4-foot-tall grain bin chute into a free-hand plasma cut work of art with intricate leaves overlying a grid of squares.

As the article points out, the artist found a calling, a business was started, and national attention came to Bloomington.

Could that not be done in and for Anderson?
