From Another Chicago Magazine published Review of Jennifer L. Freeman Marshall’s “Ain’t I an Anthropologist: Zora Neale Hurston Beyond the Literary Icon” by Reighan Gillam. I have not had the chance to read Hurston's anthropology work. I assume it is as interesting as her fiction. Nothing that I have read suggests she did not do good work and it was well-written. Please read the review.
It seems to me that anthropology is what a writer does when writing about people and their society.
As a Hoosier, I would also like to point out Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. was trained as an anthropologist.
