I went out to the Walmart on the north side. Of course, I wait till after the clouds have obscured the sun and the temperature is dropping back to March numbers. It dawned on me this trip how little this area is geared towards people, certainly not for pedestrians. Maybe I am too old, but crossing McGalliard out here would be taking one's life in one's hands. This is automobile territory. On the south side of McGalliard, it strikes me how little of this is geared for people - big box stores, small box stores spaced too far from the big ones for an easy walk. No place for people to stand, to loaf, but so much space for parking cars.
As usual, too many people in Walmart. Some people push their carts at top speed and others wander aimlessly; both oblivious to others. There is a quality here of people absolutely without any self-consciousness of their appearance in shorts. I could hear KH in my head commenting on the size of Americans. Hopefully, they were buying sugar-free pop.
I got back here around 5, ate dinner, diddled with the computer, and then something strange happened.
Standing up, I got lightheaded. This bothered me enough, I laid down until around 8 pm.
Feeling a little lost, I started on a screenplay. I have this Trelby software. I spent about 2 hours trying to learn the software; I got two pages done.
I first heard Cat Stevens do this, and I will probably be struck down for not putting in Sam Cooke himself, but this is not bad, and it is Gene Vincent:
