Fixing the Sound of New Country

One of my few remaining friends and I were talking on the phone the other day. I mentioned how bad was the local radio and he brought up the country sounds. He called it rock with a twang. I have been hearing this at work. To me it has the emotional content of oatmeal. I admit to never being a fan of country music in general but I do respect the idea of real songs about real people and I do like several country artists. But he got me thinking about improving the modern country sound of rock with a twang, and offer up a way to sound better: just imitate this song.
