Zora Neale Hurston 8-12

I found Zora Neale Hurston in prison.  Someone had abandoned her memoir Dust Tracks on a Road in the quiet room of my unit building at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution. I had recognized her face from a photo I had seen of the leading lights of the Harlem Renaissance. I liked the woman who came through on the page. This lead me to reading her novel Their Eyes Were Watching God. I got notes on my reading. Then I had to read it again for one of the prison's college classes. It is brilliant.

Now I find out she has a webpage. You will find excerpts from her works and teaching materials. Check her out.
