This was the week Donald Trump's people attacked Congress. Snickering had to have been heard in Caracas and Havana and North Korea. The Republicans - we, some Republicans - shook in their expensive shoes wondering what they had wrought. Others - yes, I am thinking of you Josh Hawley - calculated how they could use the violence to prolong their political power. Meanwhile, the Democrats were appalled.
The Democrats cannot afford to be feckless. Our loyalty to democracy cannot be bloodless for our future could get quite bloody. I hope when these words are read they prove me a poor prophet, a nervous fool.
