Cold Weather and Rejections

No Vespers tonight, so I have stayed in. This is a very good reason to do so:

Special Weather Statement issued December 17 at 3:36PM EST by NWS Indianapolis IN

Scattered to numerous snow showers are expected to develop Monday. The falling temperatures, strong wind gusts of 30-40 MPH, and these snow showers may allow for the development of snow squalls and periods of blowing snow. Outside of squalls, snow showers and strong winds may cause spotty travel difficulties on Monday, particularly for high profile vehicles. Those planning to travel across central Indiana Monday should monitor forecasts, and be prepared for rapidly changing travel conditions.

I got home around 3 and four hours later, all I did was read a few emails and do a little work on "Love Stinks". It feels like all too little.

The rejections are from The Hopkins Review:

Thank you for sending us "Theresa Pressley Attends Michael Devlin’s Viewing". We’re grateful you thought of us and appreciate the chance to read it. Unfortunately, this submission does not meet our publishing needs at this time. We wish you success in placing your work elsewhere.

Sincerely,

The Editors

and this one:

Thank you for the chance to review “Reunion.” Although we’ve decided the piece isn’t for us, we appreciate the opportunity to consider it, and we wish you all best in placing it elsewhere.

Sincerely,

Thirteen Bridges Review

Well, the first was probably out of my league, but both stories have been revised since I submitted them. Rejection now feels like a vindication of having done the revisions. Still, it would be nice to have a little third-party validation.

The power went out twice last night. I was late to work, no light to dress by. All told I am a little tired, as well as cold. A little bit more work on the novel, then the shower, and then into bed for the night.

Ah, such a wild life!

Oh, I did get my Christmas cards in the mail. That may be my most important accomplishment of the day.
