I worked through the day. Not so much trouble with my left leg. I made my way to the sheriff, told them about the change in job, and caught the 4 pm bus back down town. I was not tired enough, desperate enough, to ride the 4:30 #5 bus, so I took the 4:45 bus. Before coming back to the room, I stopped at McClure's where I purchased their last 2 liter bottle of Coca-Cola. I ate dinner, I checked the email, I finally got to see Raging Bull (thank you, HBO), I called my cousin Paul who is in rehab, and did a post under Pretrial Detention that will be published next month. Thing is, I left about half of the 2 liter on the porch since it was colder outside than in the fridge. I went out at t9 pm for another nip only to find the bottle gone. Not very happy, I went down to McClure's for two cans of Coke. Still not very happy, but I have some tabs to clear out now.
Malinda Lo published her favorite books of the year. Try this link. Seven Stories Press has Recommended Reading: New and Bestselling Books. From the Indiana Daily Student: OPINION: The Democratic Party does not represent the interests of the working class. I still think the so-called betrayal of the railroad unions is overdone - unless the Democrats drop this ball in 2024. However, the author did raise one great question: why did the unions have to compromise and not the railroads?
"Colonel Tom" continues garnering rejections:
Dear Samuel Hasler,
Thank you for taking this leap of faith and submitting your work to us. However, after careful consideration, we have decided to not include your submission in our next issue. We wish you the best and we hope you will send us more work in the future.
Sincerely,
The Call Me [Brackets] team
The United States Supreme Court seems determined to further undermine the right to vote, something dear to Chief Justice Roberts' heart: Supreme Court leans toward limiting judicial scrutiny of U.S. elections.
Speaking of elections, the most interesting thing I have read about Indiana's midterm elections: Hoosier midterm election turnout drops 20%, with Marion near the bottom. One way of looking at this is that the non-voters agreed with the outcomes, did not think it necessary to vote. Another way is that they were given no good reason to see it was necessary to vote.
I was just listening to YouTube and the following song reminded me that LAH had a birthday last month. The original was a song I associated with her back in the day, but this is Joe Ely's cover:
It could have been The Talking Heads' Psycho Killer, but I am trying to change my ways.
Well, that is today's reports and short notes. Onto other things.
