Does Indiana Need Another Bayh?

 I think not.

Republican candidate criticizes Beau Bayh’s entry into Secretary of State race (95.3 MNC) makes me think history is repeating itself - on the Bayh side and on the Republican side.

Democrat Beau Bayh to run for Indiana Secretary of State (Indiana Capital Chronicle) demonstrates to me that the independent local media is a bit dazzled by the Bayh name. It only mentions Blythe Potter in passing:

The 29-year-old is the second Democrat to announce a campaign for the 2026 election after Blythe Potter, a small business owner who served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

No link to any article covering Ms. Potter. Having met her, I am quite impressed with her.

I think Mr. Bayh should not be trying to repeat history. His father ran for Secretary of State after overcoming Republican objections to his being an Indiana resident, and with claims of he was wanting to get back to Washington, DC. Then he ran for governor, and won twice - with the Republicans continuing to claim Evan Bayh meant to use Indiana as a springboard to federal office. He stayed in the Senate, backed Hillary Clinton, and then faded away when she lost to Obama. It seemed that Evan Bayh wanted to be Vice President.

Diego Morales needs to go. I think he should never have been elected. Do we need to have a primary fight on the Democrat side? Not if we want Morales out.
