Got home a little early from work thanks to getting a ride with Gail. I did lie down for a half hour, but then I headed out to Payless at 4 pm and was back at 5. I am not fasting today. I managed a little email deleting and sending messages, but it has been mostly research and doing a blog post or two. I am going to spend the evening incorporating research into the article.
And some items I have had on Keep and not used follow.
I can't say I am a fan of Elaine May, but I know enough to read Heartbreak Supernova: On Carrie Courogen’s “Miss May Does Not Exist ” by Tim Riley.
FWIW: Read the Full Transcript of President Joe Biden’s Interview With TIME. He is a better man than Trump, and he ahs been a better President. He just managed to shoot himself in the foot.
The ‘Appeal to Heaven’ Flag Is All Over Capitol Hill, but maybe you like Christian Nationalists who think they can ceate Margaret Atwood's Gilead.
Conversations like this aren’t uncommon between Republican politicians and their voters. People itching for a rebellion — or who are, at least, open to one — don’t make up the majority, Bacon told NOTUS. But they’re vocal. They show up to meetings. “And,” as Bacon said, “they’ve taken over most of the state parties.”
The most ardent among them have their own symbols and in-group signals to show off their willingness to fight. And some Republican lawmakers are now openly adopting them.
As of last week, at least 10 House Republicans were displaying one of those symbols outside their offices in Washington: the “Appeal to Heaven” flag.
I have only read The Movie-Goer, and I have not quite figured out where Percy comes into my universe. Maybe it is the Southern Roman Catholicism that has me baffled about ta fine writer. Anyway, you might check out Faith, Fiction, and Walker Percy’s The Moviegoer, with Paul Elie and Ayana Mathis.
