Saturday Night Dragging By With Funkadelic

I napped and then ate dinner and then tried to get some work done. Only Tony Soprano hijacked my evening. HBO is re-running The Sopranos. I never saw the show, it is rather good. I managed three sentences for "Love Stinks". Oh, I also submitted "Road Tripping to The University of Tampa Press.

Over at Pitchfork, I read Dave Segal's review of Funkadelic's Maggot Brain, and I liked this bit:

Summarizing the LP in Brothas, Clinton wrote, “Maggot Brain was going places that Black groups hadn’t gone, into questions about whether America was still on the right path or whether the promise of the late ’60s had completely evaporated.” In these seven songs, you can hear Funkadelic attempting to make sense of the turmoil of the times, as they express the euphoria and anguish of being born and dying in the most extraordinary ways.

Good night. No idea if I go to church tomorrow, but I am working on that assumption. Which means an early rising and an early going down.
