What Counts As Success Today?

I did some revising of "Road Tripping" before submitting it to The Shortish Project.

 I described "Road Tripping" as:
Recently released from federal prison, Fred Glauser makes his first venture outside of Jackson, Indiana. He has no goal, no purpose, only the worry that he is more institutionalized than he admits. A hitchhiker leads him to a roadside diner where he meets other travelers through America. He also begins to discover what has changed and what has not changed since his incarceration. This inspires him to go into southern Indiana to confront his past. On the way, he is also pulled further into the history of the region and of America. It is a history of genocide and racism, of hope and perseverance, of colonialism and of capitalism, of dreams and ideals filled with ghosts and myths as well as devils and mendacity. He returns, uncertain of much, except he must continue going forward to a better way of living.

I finally sent off my query letter to JackLeg Press about "The Dead and The Dying."

Also, sent off "The Sloe Gin Effect" to Children, Churches and Daddies magazine.

I did not take the bike out. But I did walk down to McClure's.

But I have been sluggish all day and want to call it quits.

The bus comes early tomorrow.

Today feels like a .500 day, at best.

Some literary music:

The pork shoulder turned out nicely.
