Just a bit of fun with this one. Well, what I think is fun.
A couple of things I feel certain that have not appeared here, even though I saved them in my notes.
Welcome to the F. Scott Fitzgerald Society, an international forum for the promotion, understanding and enjoyment of the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald. The purpose of this website is to promote study of the life and work of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Here you’ll find all the information you need on joining the society, upcoming conferences and publications, outreach efforts to promote Fitzgerald to general audiences, and materials and networking opportunities available to anyone and everyone interested in the author of The Great Gatsby, Tender Is the Night, and many other compelling works of literature.
There are similar sites for Thomas Wolfe and John Dos Passos, and I wonder about these kinds of things. Part of me likes them - which is why I am posting the link - seeing them as a defender of people who might get (have gotten) lost in the shuffle of time and taste, and part of me wonders if they do not have a whiff of embalming fluid about them. I notice this one has resources for teachers - that is a very good thing. As I recall the other two sites, this one shares also a sign of inactivity in its journals.
What I just said applies also to The Marlowe Society.
This one will surprise some people who did not know me long ago: The Margery Allingham Society. I was never much for Agatha Christie, preferring Dorothy L. Sayers and Allingham.
Anybody notice yet I am a bit of a fanboy?
The Sydney Review of Books has a really cool website, cooler than Public Books', but both have too much information for me to digest right now.
Well, this one was meant to be fun, so please do.
