No Second American Revolution, 7/26/2010

I had this subject on my mind again, and I remain convinced it is a no-go. Why I remain unconvinced is the dollar. If the dollar disappears as the currency it is then the world sinks into an economic Dark Ages. The euro is not poised to supplant the dollar in oil transactions. How many governments are ready to go back to gold?

Without an ability to pay for gold turns how many economies into sludge?

What happens when foreign investments cannot be extracted by their investors? It is not like we are talking about rubles or Weimar Germany.

I just cannot see anyone believing a revolution that makes any fundamental change to the American government will succeed if it makes the dollar unstable. On the other hand, is it a revolution if there is no fundamental change to American government?

What may be more worrisome is how long before the rest of the world comes to resent the dollar's hegemony?

[Then came January 5, 2021, an attempted right-wing putsch led by a twitchy moron with no greater ambition than to not being a loser. The country stood against them again in the 2022 midterms. No Mussolini has appeared to win over the majority. Neither have we found a Lenin. All we have is a very white oligarchy trying to keep hold onto power for the sake of power itself. sch 2/17/23]
