If I was tired yesterday, I was even more tired tonight. We had a truck needing done, and I stayed over. Thinking I could catch the 3:45 bus, I had visions of being home close to my usual time. That was not to be. I learned later that the 3:45 came at 3:45 and not closer to 4 pm. I waited too long to catch the bus from the courthouse, so I decided to head to the Shell station at Hoyt and Cowan Road. It was a nice day. The back does not hurt so much when I walk, and I was thirsty. There I caught my bus downtown. I wanted the #3 as I needed to get to Payless. It did not show up. This hauling of the middle school kids screws upon the schedule. There being a Payless on Tillotson, I took the #2 west. I had an hour before it came back around, so I went down to Subway to get a 6" sub. Oh, boy, last time for that store. I will take the blame, but never have seen such a listless, feckless bunch of people. Off to grocery, got what I needed, and went out to wait for the bus. Anxiety got me walking away when the bus seemed too late. I had to get the 6:45 to get me home. The bus I was waiting for was to have left the station at 6:00, and the time was after 6:15. Me, having little faith, was taught another lesson when the bus arrived. Back to the station, got my usual for home, and walked into the room at 7:02.
I ate ice (my reward for a bad day), read my email. I had read one of George Simeon's Maigret novels or two over the years, and then in prison I read one of his noirs, a non-Maigret crime novel. Prolific and good, so I took the time to read Simenon in America on the Crime Reads site. Interesting more for how much time Simeon spent in the States than answering the mystery of why he came.
I finished a draft post. Now I am writing this one.
Tomorrow, two trucks need done. I am done for the day. Except to say Prince had a great idea:
Big news tomorrow night. Only KH knows right now, but the rest of the world gets it tomorrow.
