Why Does Not Indiana Invest In Its People?

Education determines a person's future.

But the state government will not pay school textbooks: Textbook fees, complexity need state investment:

How can Indiana still be one of only seven states to charge parents for books in the first place?

To make matters worse, the Indiana General Assembly created a $1,000 tax deduction for children who go to private school or are homeschooled. Parents can claim any approved educational expenses such as tuition, textbooks, fees, software, tutoring and supplies.

But parents of public school children are not eligible.

Meanwhile, we also have a problem getting teachers: Op/Ed: Indiana lacks initiatives to attract potential educators, end teacher shortage.

So why do the people of Indiana keep Republicans in power? What kind of future do they see? Is it what the ostrich hiding its head in the sand sees?
