About all I can say from experience if food in the federal prison system: better than nursing home food but not by much and whatever menu is published for the public is a joke coming close to a fraud.
The American public likes creating crimes and punishing people for those crimes. It does not care to pay the costs moral or human or fiscal in their pursuit of getting off on punishing other Americans. I still think most of my fellow Americans would not mind the government gassing us criminals.
