Emancipation Proclamation Annotated

I cannot keep to the lines. My attention drifts. That JSTOR annotated Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation seems to be worth passing along. It is thought Lincoln freed all the slaves when what he did with the Proclamation was put the South on notice that continuing the Civil War meant the end of slavery. He elevated a war for Union to an end of slavery.

The annotations are done by historians. Check it out here.

One thing I noticed was Lincoln referring to the slaves as persons, whole persons, which the Constitution did not.
