Rejections, Went Fishing, Writing

I really am annoyed by the weekly reporting that takes up most of our time at the group sessions. There is not much to report after I make these posts. Besides, I think it is meant to be a public confession of aberrant behavior, and if these posts should make clear, what happened 15 years ago is just that -something that happened 15 years ago. Other things, more creative things, more productive things occupy my attention nowadays. They are also very boring for me to talk about; if not outright pretentious. We got the lecture on arousal continued from last week; still not sure how it applies to me.

I went fishing yesterday. That I will report in more detail when I get a photograph from DM.

Before that, I went to the morning liturgy and then to court for CC. She had worried herself sick over a pretrial conference. I did not know it was a pretrial conference before I got there. She was to call this afternoon, but has not.

I worked part of "Road Tripping" for a short story. A couple of writing videos got me thinking, a publication's theme got me sharpening these thoughts, and I spent last night working on the story. I sent it to KH last night. Today, he called and said he liked it.

Meanwhile, rejections have come in.

Thank you for sending us "No Ordinary Word." We know you've worked hard on it and appreciate that you've sent it to The Rumpus for consideration. While this isn't a fit for us, we wish you the best of luck in finding a home for it elsewhere.

Sincerely,

Roxane Gay

 Today's rejection:

Thank you for your interest in Variety Pack. We enjoyed the chance to read your work, but unfortunately are able to accept only two or three pieces per issue. At this time, we are unable to accept ""Learning The Passion and Control Twist"" but wish you luck in finding a home for your work.

Two items from C.M. Rosens: 1) her letterboxd list of Vampires and Bad Bloodsucking Behaviour I Enjoy (but I did not see Near Dark - could it be my eyes are not focusing properly this morning?); and 2) Author Spotlight: William Brian Johnson (who sounds like a very interesting writer and there is an Indiana connection in the interview)

Working on dinner, then on this blog. That is my Friday night.
