Free Speech For Prisoners

The story inspiring this post comes out of South Carolina and concerns their prison system. However, Free speech rights don’t extend to recording SC inmates, judge rules seem to me applicable far from its South Carolina home.

Unless federal rules have changed, it is forbidden for a federal prisoner to be a journalist. There are other restrictions on prisoners sharing information - all orbiting the concept of prison security.

The Soviets hid their gulags in Siberia. America hides its prisons in open sight, outside of outside observations, and are just as secret as any gulag.
