Thursday and Friday

I got off work at 2 pm, a little irritated by too much of a rush at the end.  I came home intending not to stay long, but instead, I napped. It was bloody hot outside - in the eighties.

MW will get me to the polygraph exam. He was snippy when I was not there when his exam before me ran over, but now he needs to reschedule and he is very nice. Ah, the prerogatives of the governmentally sanctioned.

Rejections are coming in, again:

Thank you very much for sending "Theresa Pressley Attends Michael Devlin’s Viewing" to Boulevard. Although it was not selected for publication, we're glad you thought of us. Good luck placing this with another magazine.

Sincerely,

Deepest apologies for our long delay in responding to "The Rational Actor." We kept it in the queue because we were interested. We've finally decided that it doesn't fit our developing 2024 volume.

We are now reading for our 20th Anniversary issue, which will be green in color and thicker than usual. It will feature the winner of the 2024 Nonfiction Chapbook Prize selected by contest judge Mary Cappello, original illustrations of the written work, and texts in all four genres chosen from our general submissions.

Thank you for considering us.

Sincerely,

Kelsey Trom

I think the latter one makes me a bit happier. No one has liked the story of the local wunderkind who skips out before the town's only factory shuts down. This version was written as the report of a neo-liberal business major.

Big fish in Indiana - Fish of the Year List - I think I see a trend.

This headline teased my curiosity: Patriarch Bartholomew Will Not Attend Archon Conference in Athens. It is not really clear why not, but this I find interesting, too:

The Patriarch will delegate Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon to represent him at the Congress, while he will also assign some metropolitans from Europe, as well as the director of the Patriarchal Office in Athens, Metropolitan Theodoritos of Laodicea, to attend as fill-ins.

Among those invited to speak at the Conference are former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Despina Hatzivasisiliou-Tsonilis, Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Vilnius Gintaras Grusas, President of the Council of European Bishop’s Conferences known as CCEE.

And that is as far as I could get last night. Around 9 pm, the browser crashed and I called it a night. On the walk home, I got cookies at Insomnia Cookies. Nice cookie - chocolate mint.

Now, it is 4:19 PM and I have been here at BSU for almost 2 hours. I attacked the email, and I sent the two emails I needed to get out (one to my PO and the other to the Trustee's attorney).  What I want to do is take a nap. Instead, I will get out of here and go to the grocery. Work wore me out.

CC remains MIA.

Tomorrow, maybe I will catch up with myself?

Yeah, right.
