Counselor, Writing

We got off work early. Which helped me get to Meridian Health and find out what was going on with my insurance. The woman there made a call, talked to a human being, and found out I was still covered.

Before that visit, I stopped at Ivy Tech's Chesterfield Café and a had their buffalo chicken sandwich. Very good. $7, and worth it.

After that visit, I walked over to Ball State. I meant to visit White Rabbit books, only it remains closed for renovation. I stopped, instead, at Jimmy Johns for a Diet Coke. I sat outside and watched the people coming and going while smoking a cigarette, Everyone looks so young and so dour. They had looked the same when I walked through what used to be the student union (and where is the bookstore now?). I called KH. He said we looked just as young then, and looking dour is due to the cost of tuition. We spoke at length about my writing.

Then it was back to Meridian, for my counseling session. I spoke about Saturday's episode of depression. It was a good session.

Then it was back here, I spent the rest of the evening working on “Road Tripping”. KH gave me the idea of a new title. It looked like rain, so I made a trip down to McClure's. We need rain. Walking across the Nichols Street bridge, I noticed it was now possible to walk across the river. I also saw a great blue heron. I see no fish, but its presence makes me think there are some in that stretch.

Closing out last night, I got curious about some people. I think I found them. So, some people still live.

I have news about some things I have written. The following are two days old.

“Theresa Pressley Attends Michael Devlin’s Viewing” was rejected by Mulberry Literary. That is the first for that story.

Thank you for your interest in Mulberry Literary, and for the chance to review your work! Unfortunately your submission does not fit our current needs, but we appreciate your sending it. We wish you the best of luck and success in your creative endeavors.

Sincerely,

The Mulberry Team

“Walls, Lines” went to Random Sample Review Issue 10: Spring 2024 -  Prose Submissions.

The sheriff is on the agenda today. I hope for another short day. I want to write more than wash dishes – for all I get good ideas while working.

I did talk to E yesterday. She is doing well.
