Why Domestic Terrorists are More Dangerous than al Qaeda 4/2010

Yes, al-Qaeda killed 3,000 plus Americans on September 11, 2001. In the past 9 years, they have shown themselves as being damned incompetent. More importantly, they seemed even more geographically-challenged than the average American high school senior.

Until this past Thanksgiving, it looked like al-Qaeda had one of those maps of the U.S. that show the view from New York City towards the rest of the country. Al-Qaeda seems to know New York, D.C., L.A., and Detroit. Whoopee. There remains at least three more cities possessing more strategic importance. Bin Laden ought to have read his Mark Twain as well as a high school geography text.

Domestic terrorists will not have the same problems. Given the munitions and training of the IRA, these groups could raise havoc with the American economy that ought to be frightening Washington. Why it does not get more attention seems curious. Maybe they have not read The Seven Pillars of Wisdom. Surely someone has seen the movie, Lawrence of Arabia?

More details later, but for now ask why the silence about our soft underbelly?
