The Tea Party Crowd - What I see Wrong With Them 4/20/22

What do I see wrong with this Tea Party movement? They have no history.

They have no history, in that they forget the Constitution of 1789 is not the Constitution of 2010. Go back and take a look at the 14th Amendment and the Dred Scott decision. The 14th Amendment changes the United States into a national government, unlike the government written about by Hamilton, Madison and Jay in The Federalist.

They do not know that between the 1870s and 1939 the 14th Amendment served to protect Big Business against the citizens. Who benefits by rolling back protections against the government? Why is it that conservative Republicans hate so much created by their 19th Century forebears? Any clues, Justices Alito, Thomas, and Scalia?

Read Hamilton in The Federalist on the Commerce Clause to the Constitution. (You Tea Party types do know there is such a clause and what it says.) Should we have let Wall Street go without regulation? Why do we have law and police for criminals such as myself, but entities capable of far greater economic harm than all the bank robbers in history have no regulation, and get our thanks for being such extraordinary thieves?

One last point, but this goes to the ones criticizing the separation of church and state. Particularly those who praise state right s and state constitutions had better look at their state Bills of rights. Most share Indiana's detailed attention to religious rights and with some specifying that government money cannot be spent on religion. Some might wonder why such conservatives get support from Roman Catholics.

Your anger sounds more like spoiled brats finally receiving some recognition of reality. Are there things wrong with this country? Certainly, and they existed before Barack Obama became President, but I do not recall your sort making any racket at that time.

Offer up some concrete changes and how these will help all Americans. If you cannot do this, then the spoiled brat remark will stand.

I will offer some constitutional changes I think will effect some serious changes, also.

[It is not so easy typing up these notes. Not that I disagree with what I wrote here, but how it was written. Even more worrisome is how much was missed in dealing with these people and their resentments, social and economic, until Donald J. Trump came along and inflamed their racial and social fears until we are well-nigh facing an American fascist movement. Trump mangled American history into a myth of a better past, a past stolen, a people wronged, but the MAGA myth is actually smaller than American history, than the American myth. Obama's Presidency proved American exceptionalism. Turmp proved American smallness. sch 9/30/22.]
