Liberty 4/22/2010

I know I will be coming back to this again. Bear with me. I am not John Stuart Mill (do read his On Liberty, if you have not done so already.)

Mill dealt too well with the issue of how does society deal with conflicts of liberty. We tend to either forget it or are ignorant of it. There must be a compromising of liberty - on equal terms. Or am I confusing Mill with Locke?

Worth read Locke's Treatises on Government, too. Helped inspire a Mr. T. Jefferson, who helped write a certain Declaration that got incorporated into those state constitutions praised by Sarah Palin and the Tea Party crowd.

Give Mill and Locke a look on Wikipedia. I would think there will be links to their original works. I know there is a John Locke Society worth checking out.
