Indiana Writing Awards

The  2022 Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Awards were announced last week. I only found out thanks to Nuvo Newsweekly's Indiana writers recognized:

Indiana Humanities Council announced The Literary Champion honor was awarded to poet JL Kato for his contributions to the state’s literary community.

“Never in my experience has an award been more deserved than this one. JL Kato is both a champion and a bulwark of the poetry scene in the Central Indiana area. He has been tireless in his efforts to help make poetry a blossoming art form here and to help make poets from around the world feel welcome in our poetic garden. On behalf of the poetry rank and file and JL's endless list of friends, a hearty well done and sincere congratulations upon having achieved this honor,” said Mike Rothman on a post.

Dr. James H. Madison was named Lifetime Achievement award winner for superior literary achievements throughout his career.

With a career spanning more than four decades, Madison is an award-winning teacher and author who serves as the Thomas and Kathryn Miller Professor Emeritus of History at Indiana University and is an “Indiana Living Legend,” as designated by the Indiana Historical Society.

Turns out there is also a video on YouTube from Indiana Humanities featuring JL Kato:
