Indiana Economy Needs College Grads?

Such is suggested by BSU Prof: Indiana economy slowing due to lack of college graduates.

Though Hicks says it’s a good thing to consider — only a small percentage of the job openings in Indiana last year were in the trades compared to far more jobs openings that require a college degree.

Hicks fears that the economy will suffer unless more Hoosiers go to college in order to fill these job openings.

The comments are predictable. I have a problem with the reasons stated even if I think the conclusion is right. Engineers and computer scientists have made the modern world what it is. Are college grads more likely to start businesses than those with high school diplomas?

I do agree with the comment about student loans. Those will produce a class of serfs.
