Grammar: Crash Blossoms

I had not heard the term crash blossoms until I read Beware, these linguistic booby traps are out to get you by David Astle. Here is its origins and a couple of examples:

...Aptly, a participant named Dan Bloom suggested this headline type should be dubbed a crash blossom. The label took root, granting us a name for such comic chestnuts (real or imagined) as Mum of 8 Makes Hole in One, Kids Make Nutritious Snacks, or Red Tape Holds Up New Bridge.

Reminds me of something the Marx Brothers would be doing.
