I overslept yesterday. Badly overslept. Missed the alarm from the phone, even though the phone was next to me on the bed. The alarm went off at 4:40, and I woke at 6:22. I called in, but there was another problem - the back again, albeit my upper back. When I got home, I called Open Door Clinic about the X-rays they wanted, and I need to call Ball Hospital today to set up an appointment.
I worked even with the pain in my neck and shoulders. When I got home, I laid down with the heating pad. I broke the Advent Fast again with a Domino's pizza. I just did not have the energy to cook.
John called. I guess I missed his calling on Sunday. I think I must have been asleep. He brought CC home. She got sick, bad sickly, at the inpatient clinic. Oddly, she has not called me, but John did tell me where she went when she was feeling better. Not good. Oh, well. I am going to wrap up Dad's trust and get myself to Bloomington regardless of her actions. I can say I have tried to help.
I started revising Kemp. I think I got it done. That almost made up for the crazy day.
Also, I have almost finished Stranger Things. Still, not enough Winona Ryder. She does not make a good mother figure.
This morning it is freezing cold. No, bitter cold. I called in that I was coming late. A ten-minute walk beats a 20-minute walk, so I am waiting on the buses to start running. I do not have the gear for these temperatures.
Not much in the Google News feeds, but I did find The Black List Thinks These Books Should Be Adapted, and We Agree. I have read on, and have read only The Historian. That no one has filmed N.K. Jemsin disappoints and is not a shock - it will take a lot of money to film her books. (She is bloody brilliant, read her!)
And "Problem Solving" got another rejection:
Thank you very much for sending us Problem Solving. Though we did not ultimately select it for publication, we read it with genuine interest and hope you will continue sending work our way.
Sincerely,
John Ziebell
And that brings us now to 5:38 AM. Another hour before I need to catch the bus.
If you don't understand the brass monkey reference, then you know nothing of cold weather!
