Monday Misadventures

It was a mess yesterday morning. I took too long wrapping a post for later in the week, I thought I might miss the bus. I left without long coat, envelope for Howard Circuit, cigarettes or gloves. I did manage to haul away my lunch. Worse, I lost the cat. He was in bed with me when I went to sleep Sunday night. I could not find when I had to leave.

Work went well, I got a ride to the bus station. Back to the room, the envelope was on the bed. I heard the cat, could not decide where he was. Then his head popped out behind the curtain. He was rather happy to see me. I have no idea how he got onto the window sill. I suspect from his behavior, he also had no idea.

After the post office, I went to Walmart for some vegetables. I also got a can of sardines. This I will not do again. Smelly and the tomato sauce proved messy. The cat liked them.

I had to run to catch the bus back home. I am too old for that. The driver saw me and was kind enough to stop.

I got through some of my email, downloaded some music, and got another small section of "Love Stinks". I managed to read a few pages of Carlos Fuentes before I could no longer stay awake.

The cat went out to eat the last of the sardines. I did not see him again until a few minutes ago.

Two more rejections for my stories:

Thank you for allowing us to read Theresa Pressley Attends Michael Devlin’s Viewing. Unfortunately, we did not accept your submission for this issue. Please do not let this discourage you. As writers ourselves, we have emails like these filling our inboxes. Please continue to write and submit to magazines. We wish you the best of luck with finding a home for Theresa Pressley Attends Michael Devlin’s Viewing.

The other was for “The Rational Actor”.

Thank you for your submission to The Parliament Literary Journal. Although we must decline your submission this time, we appreciated the chance to consider it. We are always honored by your willingness to share your talent with us.

The response to our "Secrets" call was incredible -- our greatest response ever, in fact! -- and the works submitted were superb. Selections for the issue from this pool of talent became about creating the most cohesive issue, which meant having to turn down extraordinary pieces. (We do hope to re-visit the theme again soon.)

Please consider submitting to our next call for our Summer 2024 issue -- which should be a fun one (?) and will be announced shortly on our website and social medias.

Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Nicole Gonzalez

I am looking at a contest for "The Dead and The Dying", 2023 Wolfson Prose Prize. It is out of IU South Bend. I knew someone who used to talk teach up there. Another of my former friends.

The only news I have looked at this morning: The Indo Daily: The Garda failure to act? The rise of the Far Right and the Dublin Riots,

Today in the Indo Daily, Fionnán Sheahan is joined by John Downing, Political Correspondent at the Irish Independent, and Aoife Gallagher, Senior Analyst at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, to examine the emergence of a new movement, and ask if Ireland is headed towards a far right government?

Liturgy tonight over at Ball State. Maybe more of "Love Stinks" tonight. It is bitterly cold here, I am not ready for it.

Hostages being exchanged in Gaza is a good thing.

I am hearing Tommy Tuberville just claim he was an educator, I fear for the careers of his students.
