It is hard for me to make out what went on behind the scenes from reading School classes abruptly leave 'School of Rock' mid-performance due to "inappropriate" content from OnStage Blog,
According to a Facebook post, multiple classes from two different schools abruptly left a performance of the musical ‘School of Rock’ due to what teachers felt was inappropriate content. The departure occurred in the middle of the show and caused a disturbance among the audience.
The incident occurred at the Ritz Theatre Company in NJ. The classes that left the show were from Hartford Upper Elementary School and Kellman Brown Academy.
I will be more blunt than the source material: damned rude behavior.
Did the school and/or teachers not know the show? I saw the movie over 20 years ago (wow, that much time has gone by?). That was rated PG-13. Do they not know how to use Google?
Failing at due diligence makes them educated morons, at least.
This reminds me when Tipper Gore got all upset about her teenage daughter buying Purple Rain and have to hear "Darling Nikki." Back then, I thought the mother must have been an idiot not to know Prince.
Frank Zappa, your country needs you.
What could be worse is that this was some sort of planned demonstration with the cast, the students, and the remainder of the audience as its victims.
For all those teachers, go here
In memory of the PMRC and Tipper Gore:
