I did not set the alarm, but still was up a little after 5 AM. The plan was to get to 8:45 bus, get my groceries, come back here, and write. That plan went the way of brown gold (see below)
By 6:37 AM I had read the following:
- Brown gold: the great American manure rush begins
- Marcia Muller: A Crime Reader’s Guide to the Classics (I may have read one of her novels, but I am sure I read one of her short stories decades ago. I keep overlooking her for Sara Paretsky and Sue Grafton. Too bad for me.)
- Orhan Pamuk led me to an interest in Turkish writers, so I read LitHub's Ayşegül Savaş on the Work and Career of Turkish Writer Tezer Özlü.
- , ‘Gets police out of the lives of drug users’: decriminalization move takes effect in Canadian province.
- Theories of Justice Is decolonization progressive?
All but the second inspired their own, a bit longer posts. Therein died my plans.
8:22 AM I take a break from this post.
I had a brief correspondence with my sister about ‘Gets police out of the lives of drug users’: decriminalization move takes effect in Canadian province. I added her comment to my post.
I checked the bus schedules, I want to watch a show on HBO about Bessie Smith at noon. It goes until 2. Well, there is my afternoon.
As if I did not have enough trouble placing "Colonel Tom", I get this in my email:
