Salman Rushdie Attacked

Someone tried killing Salman Rushdie, the author of The Satanic Verses. I suspect his attacker will prove to be a small-minded, self-righteous bigot afraid of the written word.

The news as of my writing this:

• Suspect in Salman Rushdie attack pleads not guilty to second-degree attempted murder and assault charges, attorney says

• Who is Salman Rushdie? Author whose book The Satanic Verses made him a target
  
• From Rushdie’s friend: “Always support free speech, especially speech we hate. Otherwise there’s no hope at all.”
  
• Returning to Salman Rushdie’s Haroun

I read The Satanic Verses while in prison. My short opinion is the Ayatollah had no sense of humor. Ditto for his attacker.
