Joanna Penn's Writing Tips: Lessons Learned From Rewriting My First Novel Over A Decade Later I found interesting since I started rewriting "Love and a Kiss" for Booksie. When written, KH thought it good; I thought it good; but a year or so later and I made revisions. Not much more than tweaks, other than the opening paragraph. I thought it better; KH thought it better. Follow the link above and decide for yourself. It seems to me letting some time go by works for my revision process.
Ms. Penn describes a similar process with more detail, more advice. Give her a read.
