Smoking and Other Temptations

I smoked a cigarette. I got it off this dope dealer named Donnie who gave me an off brand, generic menthol. We came across one another on Washington Street. I ripped off the filter like it was 2009. This did not do my COPD any favors. I wished for a regular Camel.

I have also noticed the Hardwick's store on the Circle is no longer there. Where can I get a cigar?

I had orientation yesterday. There is no smoking allowed in the building. Not sure how it is this building is smokier than ever was Ft. Dix's E5741.

As for Coca-Cola - no temptation from the vending machines upstairs on the fourth floor. I've had no intestinal pain for 10 years and don't want any more.

I have to be honest (since that is the purpose of these notes) other than watching TV and dozing on my bunk, there is little to do here.I do some weight lifting in the morning - pushing up to the limits of my COPD. Breathing hard after my walks to Sheriff's does a lot to keep me off of cigarettes. I need to get back to my writing, but there is no place comfortable to work on any fiction. "No Clean Slates" will need to wait till get to a library. Besides these notes may do me more good as my therapy to get me through this place.

My reading list tempts me,too. I plot on how to get the books I want into this place. The downtown Barnes and Noble is gone. I cannot exactly go into the Indianapolis Central Library until I get a pas to do so. I need to find out if IUPUI has a library. Or whether Indianapolis library still sells  its discards up on North Meridian Street. According to yesterday's orientation,I can get a pass when I get my full suite of IDs and do some programming and get a job. Even then that personal time can only be spent in Marion County. K brought me three mystery novels which was another of her kindnesses. I really feel the need to read Louis Ferdinand Celine.

Oh, how the federal government fears my presence amongst you! The same with the State of Indiana. I am sorry for the danger I represent.
